High Meadow Ranch Master Plan

Tertiary Aquifer Well Evaluations, Well Siting Study, Well Design, Drilling and Testing

WESTON was selected as a subconsultant to WLC of Pinedale, Wyoming for conducting the HMR Master Plan Level I Study in 2012 and 2013.   WESTON’s portion of the project included conducting an evaluation and assessment of three existing HMR water supply wells, Sauk Trail II, HM #5, and Clare #1.  The project also included a well siting study to determine the potential for replacing HM #5 with a high-yield, high-quality water supply well within the HMR community that can be used to supplement existing water supplies.  WESTON was selected as a subconsultant to Jorgensen Engineers of Pinedale in 2015 to refine the well siting study conducted as part of the Level I Study and develop a design for a new test well, prepare plans and specifications for the new well and provide oversight for drilling and testing of the new well.

LEVEL I WELL EVALUATIONS AND ASSESSMENTS AND WELL SITING STUDY

The results of the evaluation conducted as part of Level I Study resulted in the recommendation that the HM #5 well be replaced with a new deeper well.  The existing HM #5 well has a very low production rate and produces large amounts of sand resulting in two pump failures and the failure of a flow meter, despite well rehabilitation efforts.  The Level I well siting study conducted by WESTON concluded that a well on the property owned by the HMR District at the north end of the system near the current HM #5 site will offer significant cost savings in capital expenditures and speed up access and permitting. In addition, a well in this location will provide for maintaining good water pressures for the higher elevation lots in the system.  The proposed pipeline between Blocks 1-4 and Block 8 will alleviate water supply concerns for the area served by Clare #1.  WESTON’s evaluation in the Level I Study also included an assessment of the potential for interference with the Sauk Trail II well and found the potential to be low.

LEVEL II STUDY

As part of the Level II study, WESTON refined the well siting study that was conducted as part of Level I.  WESTON developed plans and specifications for the well based on the final well site selection.  WESTON oversaw the bidding process and the new water supply well was completed during the summer of 2016.  WESTON aided in development and evaluation of alternatives for incorporating the well into the HMR water supply system and the Level II project was completed in early 2017.
